For months and months, we’ve all been daydreaming about parties. Hopefully, after such a long time apart, we will be able to reunite this summer to celebrate with friends and family. Party planning has never been more popular, so there’s no better time than now to start preparing your big occasion.
A rustic outdoor party is guaranteed to make everyone smile. We’ve compiled a list of fun and easy ideas that will teach you how to have a spectacular rustic garden party with minimal effort and maximum enjoyment. After all, the host deserves to have as much fun as everyone else!!
Getting Things Started
For a rustic backyard party, simple wood tables, pallets, and hay bales make ideal furniture. If you don’t have any chairs, you might make a table out of pallets and place cushions around the base. It’s quite relaxed and looks lovely.
Hay Bales can also be used as seating, either scattered across the garden or organized in a sofa-like configuration. Throws and blankets thrown over the backs of the bales are a lovely décor that also come in handy as the sun sets later in the evening!
If your backyard party is going to last all night, you’ll need plenty of twinkly lights. They provide a magical ambience, especially when paired with a bonfire or firepit. The only issue is that your guests won’t want to go!
How do I Set the Table Dessert?
I wanted to keep the dessert table simple and inexpensive, so I repurposed many items from previous gatherings to achieve my goal. With baby pink, ivory, heather beige felt, and burlap lace ribbon, I constructed a Felt Flower Wreath for my backdrop.
To let in more natural light, I put the wreath and a ribbon garland I made for a Tea Party in 2012 in front of the kitchen window. A lace and burlap runner from Tablecloths Factory was stretched over a cream tablecloth. I used felt flower clothespins to hang a lace bunting that I bought from Sweet Arm Candy in front of the table.
I filled the Mini Easter Baskets I made with pastel Jelly Beans and put the cake pops in birch wood floral vases with Spanish Moss. I wrapped chocolate bars in paper bags with burlap and lace ribbon because every celebration requires chocolate.
I dressed up some shop purchased Angel Food Bundt Cakes with pink shredded coconut and a Robin Egg, then filled the appliqué treat bags I made with Cotton Candy. There was no need for a cake or cupcakes because the bundt cakes made wonderful “nests” for the centerpiece.
Making Your Garden Look Beautiful
If you want to make a statement with your birthday number or name, there are some fantastic firms that rent out larger wooden decorations. Using wooden boards, simple bunting, and lovingly constructed flower jars, you may quickly adorn your own garden.
You don’t have to be a professional florist to make these lovely tiny bouquets. Give it a shot; you’ll be ecstatic with your results. Simple flowers or herbs can also be used to decorate table linens, and candles in jars and vases add to the twinkly effect.
Cocktails for a Party
By exhibiting the simple welcome drink in a rustic manner, there are some really smart ways to improve it. Wheelbarrows filled with ice are ideal for keeping beer, champagne, and wine bottles chilled while still looking spectacular and entertaining.
Drinks stations are also effective, as they provide a variety of fruits and extras for guests to customize their drinks. If you prepare them ahead of time, your guests will be able to help themselves, allowing you more time to relax and enjoy the party.
Taking Care of the Guests during the Party
Keep it simple yet again! Prepare the food ahead of time by setting up a snacking table with a variety of cheeses, meats, and breads. A variety of pizzas and salads works nicely, too. And who can top a good ol’ fashioned BBQ?
Games and amusement
A few relaxing activities, especially for the younger visitors, are always a wonderful idea during a garden party. Boules, croquet, and skittles are just a few of the simple garden games. Children love pop-up popcorn stands and ice cream parlors because they can create their own perfect ice cream sundae or flavor popcorn.
