What could be more colorful and entertaining than a tropical-themed party? Today I’m sharing some fantastic tropical party ideas with you!! Parties with a tropical theme are ideal for the spring and summer. Not only can you go crazy with brilliant and vibrant colors, but summer also offers a bounty of delicious produce.
Fruit is not only refreshing but also healthful, so it’s a win-win situation in my book. Aside from summer fruits, tropical plants and leaves such as ferns or monstera could be included in your style and overall motif. Flamingos, coconuts, and umbrellas are some amusing choices.
Fun with tropical watercolors on a table
These tropical party decorations will make any celebration at home even more memorable, whether it’s a birthday, graduation, or baby shower. You might even use them for a tropical staycation – or simply to liven up your family dinner night!
We utilized a mix of frosted text weight paper and plain text weight paper for our tropical party décor. We recommend using a cutting machine because many of the leaves require delicate cuts — plus there are a lot of decorations you can make. Otherwise, you can cut by hand with our printable templates.
Paper Products
You’ll need some cute paper goods like these What the Flock? invitations to throw a festive tropical watercolor party. napkins. Serve as a garnish for cocktails or desserts.
Flamingo dessert dishes, gold metallic lunch plates, and tropical napkins complete the look. As a placemat, silk Monstera leaves are ideal. These were discovered on Amazon.
Don’t forget about the beverages! With flamingo stir sticks and gold metallic straws, these flamingo print cups are adorable. Simply fill the bottles with your favorite tropical drink or these adorable small champagne bottles.
Backdrop for a party
Use a combination of colorful balloons with a themed balloon as a backdrop if you’re searching for a fun yet straightforward concept. I put some tropical plants on this large flamingo balloon as well as this mini balloon garland. To finish off the backdrop, I produced the wooden laser cut “let’s flamingle” sign.
Foods for a Party
I always start a sweets table with simple party snacks from the local grocery bakery. I bought a sour cream bundt cake, coconut donuts, little sugar cookies, mini vanilla cupcakes, mini coffee cakes, popcorn, and Rice Krispies snacks from the Walmart bakery.
I arranged the coconut doughnuts on a dish with grated coconut and decorative palm tree picks on top.
Foods from the supermarket don’t have to be bland. To go with the idea, put them in adorable snack containers. To showcase the little coffee cakes and popcorn, I used our solid pink and tropical-print mugs.
For showcasing the small cupcakes, this flamingo cupcake kit worked nicely. These ordinary vanilla cupcakes are transformed into a festive display by rose gold metallic liners with palm trees and pink and blush flamingo tops.
Cake toppers with a theme are a simple way to dress up an ordinary cake. I utilized the flamingo and palm tree cake topper set, as well as some Monstera leaves underneath the cake.
Tropical Party Activities
When my guests are able to take home the artwork they created at the party, the memories become even more meaningful. Whether they make grass skirts, sand painting in a bottle, or flower leis, it will be something unique that they will remember and share with others.
Without some luau games and events, what tropical luau celebration would be complete? Games like limbo, pin the wings on the butterfly, pineapple bowling, and a hilarious pack the suitcase relay add energy to the celebration and give everyone a chance to interact.
Tropical Party Cakes
For those who enjoy baking, a hula girl cake is usually a hit. Individual cupcakes and ice cream in individual cupcake liners can cut down on the mess of serving Hawaiian delights under pressure for people who want a simple and less elaborate dessert.
Don’t forget to provide food and beverages for your luau guests. Fruity and tropical-looking snacks and drinks are constantly in high demand. However, a luau barbeque can be entertaining on occasion.
Tacky Tourist Relay
This is one of my favorite games! It is, without a doubt, the ideal luau party game! You’ll need the following items: 1.) Each team will need a carry-on suitcase. 2.) A pair of sunglasses, an enormous Hawaiian shirt, a beach towel, a sunhat, a lei, a grass skirt, and other items should be packed in each luggage.
Each team member pulls the bag to the “Beach” one at a time. Place the towel on the floor, put on the sunglasses, sunhat, lei, and other accessories, and then lies down on the towel. Gets up quickly and stuffs everything back into the suitcase. Returning home, he hands the suitcase off to the next person. The team that finishes first wins!
Pin the coconut on the palm tree
Pin the (blank) on the (blank) is one of my favorite games to play. It’s a timeless party game that will appeal to people of all ages. Pinning the coconut to the palm tree is such a great idea!
Burst of watermelon
This water balloon game with a fruit theme is fantastic! I believe it would be cute if they were designed to appear like pineapples instead of watermelon. This is a fantastic tropical party theme for the summer!
