Traditional weddings are brimming with fashion-forward ideas! From conventional tables to aisle décor, invitations, and favors, there is something for everyone. Find your favorite components and incorporate them into your big day! Take note of all the ways you may celebrate, classic brides. You name it: nice linens, neutral colors, and fine flowers.
Traditional Wedding Decorations
Have I stated “Keep it simple” enough? Well, I think you should keep it simple with the decor as well. Wedding design fads come and go at an alarming rate. What looks fascinating now on Pinterest might make you cringe in a few years.
Candles and candelabras have been around for a long time and are unlikely to go out of style anytime soon, so consider lining tables with them, like I did. As I previously stated, the most ageless appearance is achieved by sticking to neutrals and metallics.
We utilized ivory tablecloths with silver table runners to provide a touch of class. We chose gold candle holders and vases to complement our gold chairs.
One thing to keep in mind while attempting to achieve the most classic and traditional style is to consider what would look best in your specific setting. This manner, the decor doesn’t look like decor at all; it blends in as if it were a natural part of your venue, and you’ll have a higher chance of maintaining that timeless look in the future.
Color Schemes
Color trends come and go, but neutrals never go out of style. A black and white bridal party color palette will never go out of style. My husband, on the other hand, wanted a more Spring-like color scheme for our wedding party, so we settled on the second most popular neutral — blue — for the guys and silver for the ladies, after I tried on every neutral color and decided that silver was the most universally flattering.
For a classic and traditional color scheme, neutrals and metallics will almost always be your best pick, but avoid trendy cuts and features, like as sequins, for a design that will stand the test of time.
My bridesmaids wore Macy’s Adriana Papell dresses in modest lace and chiffon that they chose themselves and were able to purchase off the rack (no measuring, waiting, and hoping).
Wedding Cakes
Cake trends come and go, so I recommend a classic white, tiered cake. You can’t go wrong with this one. It will also be less expensive and simpler to eat this way.
Add a few flowers or a simple icing design, such as a stripe, to dress it up.
We finished off our cake with a Lenox bride and groom cake topper that looked really traditional and old-fashioned. There are countless cake topper designs to choose from, but if you want the most traditional look, I recommend going old-school.
Wedding Dress Ideas
Audrey Hepburn (renowned for her high, straight neckline) and Grace Kelly come to mind when I think of classic and conventional wedding dresses (who is known for her timeless ball gown wedding dress).
Simple cuts and fabrics, such as taffeta, lustrous silk, or satin, come to mind. More is more when there are fewer details and accessories. For a more modest look, consider wearing sleeves.
Compare fashions from decades past to find which ones are still appealing today. That should give you a fair idea of what will last in the future.
I knew I wanted a high neckline like Audrey Hepburn, possibly the most traditional style icon, and I was fortunate enough to find it on the first try at BHLDN just a few days after our engagement. My dress was absolutely plain on top, which gave it the classic air I wanted, but it also had a little lace on the bottom and buttons down the back, which are both traditional aspects but yet fresh and current.
A veil is also a must-have for the most classic bridal outfit. It adds a lot of drama to your outfit. For the most impact, I like a long veil, but many outfits look great with shorter veils as well.
I’m reminded of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s when I think of classic and traditional hairstyles. As a result, for a style you will never regret, I recommend a well-groomed twist or bun. I went for an Audrey-inspired bun with a bit of lift at the top, but you could also go for a Hollywood glam style with long, sweeping, voluminous curls.
Consider including pearls in your outfit because nothing says classic and traditional jewelry like them.
BHLDN pearl drop earrings with three vintage-inspired teardrop rhinestones adorned the top of my head. The classic aesthetic was achieved by mixing vintage style with pearls. I wore a simple, hardly noticeable silver Kendra Scott bracelet on my wrist.
Wedding Invitations
Keep things basic when it comes to classic and traditional invitations. On white or off-white cardstock, look for script or engraved fonts with a neutral tone. For great invitations, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel, and many invitation trends fade away soon.
Free Glitter and Watercolor Flower Invitations
I took a look at some of the most well-known invitation designs. The clean white and black color scheme and traditional typography appeal to me. With something like this, you can’t possibly go wrong.
In addition, I’ve made or left a pretty large space, so you can freely write or type your party information and it can be crystal clear enough to be easily read by your guests.
