We have the invitation specifically suited to your wedding, whether it’s black and gold wedding invitations with our stunning foil techniques, red and black wedding invitations for a striking contrast, or straightforward wedding invitations in black and white.
The type of wedding stationery that will match depends on the event’s theme and mood. If you’re hosting a wedding with a St. Kilda Saints theme because you love football (it happens), you might want to use red, black, and white invitations for a very formal and traditional occasion. That’s real passion, man!

What to Include on Your Wedding Invitation
Now that you’ve chosen your stationery, it’s time to tackle wedding invitation wording—whether you want to keep the wording classic and traditional or creative and whimsical is entirely up to you, but there are some basic elements that should be included regardless.
The following elements should be included on all wedding invitations:
The Host
Even for very formal affairs, the bride’s parents are traditionally the hosts of the wedding and are named at the top of the invitation. However, regardless of who pays the bill, including the names of both sets of parents as hosts is a gracious option. Furthermore, an increasing number of couples nowadays host their own weddings or do so in collaboration with their parents.
If the couple’s parents are divorced and you want to include both as hosts, just put each parent on a separate line. If you’re going to include a stepparent’s name, put it on the same line as their partner. It may appear complicated at first, but all it takes is a few more lines.
The Request to Attend
There are many ways to ask for the pleasure of your guests’ company. The British spelling of “honour” traditionally indicates the ceremony will be held in a church or another house of worship. Here are few options:
- “the pleasure of your company”
- “at the marriage of their children”
- “would love for you to join them”
- “invite you to celebrate with them”
- “honor of your presence”
The Couple’s Names
Even if their names aren’t on the host line, they should still take center stage a few lines down. Of course, no one would forget to include this on a wedding invitation, but you may be wondering who’s name should appear first on a wedding invitation.
Traditionally, the bride’s name always comes before the groom’s name. Formal invitations issued by the bride’s parents refer to her by her first and middle names, and formal invitations issued by the groom’s parents refer to him by his full name and title; if the couple is hosting themselves, their titles are optional.
