Parties are the best when you’re a youngster. What’s not to love about spending a major chunk of the day laughing and running around celebrating life with your friends? Planning and organizing your child’s birthday party can feel like a huge duty as a parent. This Maleficent-themed party could be the most stunning event you’ve ever hosted.
Maleficent grew nurtured in a kingdom where luxury and beauty reigned supreme. She used to be a woodland fairy. She rose to become the mistress of evil and the queen of the moors. Maleficent’s heart turned black and filled with hatred after being betrayed by her one and only love.
She acted vengefully and turned her back on the world. Maleficent decides to keep an eye on the sleeping Princess of the Sleeping Beauty from afar, and she soon becomes her Godmother. She forms a strong attachment to her. For your next birthday celebration, our Maleficent party character is ideal!
Maleficent Dessert Table
Coming up with this cute Maleficent theme was a lot of fun. You don’t want to have a spooky Halloween party for her, even though she is the villain in Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. While the kids are small, try to strike a balance between scary and cute.
Complete with dramatic black elements, dashes of green and purple, and a smidgeon of glitz! The Maleficent silhouette was also a focus of the details.
Fabulous, like the movie, goes all out to create a dramatic and stunning dessert table with magnificent pastries, cupcake toppers, purple glittering cake balls, and delectable candy apples!
The Maleficent figure, encircled by a sophisticated black mirror, takes center stage as the backdrop, with a lovely purple rosette table cover adding drama. The eerie dead trees with birds added a somber touch to the table. This is also a fantastic theme for a birthday or Halloween party!
Party Banner
Make a party banner by using the same files for the scalloped outer circle and the inside circle’s printer. You may also include a photo of the finished banner.
Book Prop
You can order the book holder and use an actual book to recreate the spell book. Using antique manuscript paper with the Maleficent font and graphics, print after copying and pasting.
Mini Snack Bar Wrapper
Colored/patterned paper, purple diamonds, lace, and a horn template make up the little candy bar wrappers.
Cupcake Toppers
For the cupcake toppers, you have a few possibilities. You can use a hole punch or cut them out as squares and tape them on toothpicks. It’s quicker than manually cutting them out.
Treat Bags Toppers
Ziploc sandwich bags, quart storage bags, and snack bags are all compatible with the treat bag toppers. I haven’t tried putting them on top of a paper bag yet, but they might work.
Cut them out, score them lightly in the middle, and fold them in half. Staple the treat bag topper over the top of the bags and fill them with party favors.
Bottle Water Labels
Tape or glue the candy bar and water bottle wrappers in place. Maleficent lollipop covers and Maleficent pillow boxes can make your party favors even more entertaining!
Use black and purple dishes, cups, napkins, and plastic cutlery to tie the entire party together.
Other party supplies you may need:
- Maleficent silhouette, spell book, and apple and rose-owl centerpieces
- Apple garland adorns a maleficent dessert table.
- Black linens and glittering purple runners adorn the guest tables.
- Under a vine-covered gazebo, a maleficent cake is placed.
- Tree twigs painted black and set in cylinder vases
- Maleficent-themed cupcakes with fondant toppers
- Table of fun potions
- Purple ghost and gold chiavari chairs on a courtyard party stage
- Green and purple meringue cookies with fondant character toppers printed on them
- Also, sugar pastries inspired by Maleficent.
Play Horns
A simple party game can be included. Maleficent’s portrait should be hung on the wall. Remove her horns. Using a square cutter, cut them out.
Guests should take turns being blindfolded or having their eyes closed. See where they put her horns by spinning them around a few times! Put a piece of tape on the horns as you send them out to each player to make it easier.
Pass the Parcel
So this one requires some prep work, but it’s such a big hit with the kids that I had to include it on our list. Purchase a modest, affordable reward linked to the party theme or simply something you know your child and her friends would enjoy before the party and wrap it in layers of paper — recycled wrapping paper or newspaper work well.
At least one layer per child is required. To play, have the kids sit in a circle and pass the wrapped package around while you play some music.
When the music ends, the child in charge of the parcel peels away the outer layer of paper. Restart the music and keep going until just one person is left.
Restart the music and repeat until one of the children has unwrapped the final sheet of paper to reveal their prize.
You may place a little lolly/sweet or balloon in each layer of wrap to give each child a prize.
Scavenger Hunts
Treasure hunts (sometimes known as scavenger hunts) can be as simple or as complicated as you choose.
To keep things simple, conceal wrapped sweets/lollies throughout the play area for guests to uncover, and each guest gets anything they find. Hide a number of tokens around the play space for guests to find for a more complicated treasure hunt — the kids who finds the most wins a gift.
Small colored gemstones, printed tokens like the ones we used here for a goblin hunt, painted pebbles, and so on can all be utilized as tokens.
Maleficent Birthday Invitations
Using a movie ticket design and a different background, you can test a couple more instances. Along with the circle and paper, the envelope is truly black.
You can download the Maleficent free printables from Drevio to make things easier.
If you’re throwing a party, make sure the Maleficent Party Kits from Drevio are first on your list. These free printables can be used to make invitations, bottle labels, and more.
Lighting
To make the forest stand out more in the dark, I added green uplights around the edges of the room. These lights are actually battery operated LED lights that come with a remote which lets you set the color. They are one of my go-to party decor accessories…I use them at every event!
