Throw a Shrek party for a child that adores Princess Fiona, Shrek, Donkey, and Puss in Boots. For the Shrek birthday party, consider a Shrek swamp theme, a Shrek Royal Castle theme, or both. Invitations, décor, Shrek cakes, and favors are just a few of the Shrek birthday party ideas.
Party Decorations
Balloons are a great complement to any party, and our Shrek party was no exception. When the small visitors arrived, they were met with a balloon halo that took them into the world of Donkey, Fiona, and Shrek.
Handmade balloon Shrek faces peeked out of the arch, avidly watching the action. Each dining table chair was given its own hand-tied balloon, and the alternate colors added structure to the overall appearance of the area.
It’s easy to forget to eat when you’re having so much fun, but our inviting dining and sweetie made sure the food was as exciting as the party itself. The color pattern was carried through to the table with a light brown table linen that was accented in both color and texture by artificial grass; a tribute to the swamp, of course.
Green plates, silverware, and glasses commemorated the infamously hideous ogre’s world. The goodie table was adorned by character figures, a magnificent castle cake, and small plants that created a wonderful touch.

Birthday Cakes Ideas
Make an impressive Shrek birthday cake for this special occasion. You can include a “Garlic” carriage, grass, trees and characters from the movie. Bake a rectangular cake, let the cake cool and plan the other cake details. Create the carriage with a large cupcake.
Frost the entire cupcake in white frosting and pile the frosting on the top to create a pointed tip. Mark the spot for the carriage with an edible dirt platform. Frost a graham cracker with chocolate frosting, sprinkle graham cracker crumbs on top and place it towards the front of the cake.
For a finishing touch, arrange characters on the cake from both the Swamp and the Royal Castle. Popular characters include Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey and Puss in Boots.
Party Favors
At the end of the birthday party, give the kids Shrek party favors. Buy Shrek-themed goody bags or neon green bags with each child’s name on the front. Green slime (available at your local toy store), Shrek puzzles, Shrek Yo-yos, and Shrek ears on a headband are all good ideas.
