When preparing for an event, another issue that should be worked out early on is the location. You prefer an outdoor environment if you are expecting a large number of guests (both children and adults). And when you have a bunch of kids with a lot of energy, nothing beats a party at the park… especially when it’s only a few blocks away from your house.
Keep the décor as minimal as possible. Our décor was more of a police theme than a Zootopia one, but it suited all of our activities. For the table setting, I utilized blue tablecloths with yellow dishes and cups. Oriental Trading Company also had this cute napkin ring idea here, which I thought was perfect for anybody looking for a quick, DIY craft.
Healthy Foods
I love being able to incorporate fresh fruits and veggies into party food to help offset all the sugar. We had little disposable condiment cups, and we put some ranch dressing in them and a handful of baby carrots. We also served fresh blueberries. Multiple times in the film, blueberries and carrots are referenced, eaten, and used! So this was perfect!
Animal themed Treats
Make cupcakes so each guest can have their own little piece of Zootopia. Frost them in fun colors, and decorate them with animals from the movie!
Mask Making Station
Set up a fun arts and crafts station for the kids. Cut eye holes into paper plates, and attach string so they can be tied onto guests’ faces. Have the kids decorate as their favorite character! From sloths to foxes to rabbits, anything goes. Set out plenty of markers and crayons to let their creativity run wild.
 Joke-telling in a Flash
Get into the spirit with this wacky joke-telling game! Prepare a few easy, kid-friendly jokes (such as knock-knock jokes). Teach them to the party guests, and have them repeat them back in their best, slowest Flash impersonation! The last one to laugh as they’re telling their joke wins.

Zootopia Mask Making
Mask making is a great activity for kids to do as they arrive or for any quiet times when they need to wind down. Will they make a bunny mask and be Lt. Judy Hopps? Is a fox more to their liking so they can be Nick Wilde? Perhaps a Chief Bogo rhino mask is more their thing.
While older kids can decorate paper plates and attach elastic on their own, you should prepare some card-backed paper templates for younger guests to color. Be sure to be on hand to supervise the scissors and help with the elastic to hold the masks in place.
Bunnies and Foxes
For a Zootopia-themed twist on the classic ‘Lions and Tigers’ game, simply divide the guests into two groups in the playing area.Â
Explain that one group are cunning foxes like Nick Wilde and give them an orange fabric strip each for them to tuck into their pants like a tail. Explain to the other group that they are bunnies like Lt. Judy Hopps and have them tuck in their grey ‘tails’.
During the game, kids run around trying to pull the tails of the opposing team members. Once a player loses their tail, they are out and have to sit outside of the playing area.Â
This is a really fast, fun and action-packed game so you’ll need to be vigilant while supervising it. You can play until the last pair or stop the game after a period of time and count the remaining team members.
Scanvenger Hunts
Scavenger hunts can be as simple or as elaborate as you want. If you want to be frugal, simply print pictures of the main characters from the movie and hide them at various points around the venue.
Kids go searching for these clues and when the time is up, the guest with the most pictures is named the winner. A costlier alternative is to hide animal toys related to the movie such as bunnies, foxes, lions, and rhinos.
Sleeping Foxes
Judy’s quest to become Zootopia’s first bunny cop against all odds drives the plot of Zootopia. Nick Wilde, the clever fox, is a good enemy who ends up assisting her. Sleeping foxes is a delightful spin on the traditional kids game ‘Sleeping Lions’.
Give the bunny mask to one of your guests to play Judy the bunny. The other children must lie down and pretend to sleep. If ‘Judy’ notices any movement or conversation, they summon the child.Â
The winner is the last guest who is still lying down after being called out. This is an excellent method for children to unwind in between more busy games like pass the parcel or musical chairs.
Carrot Piñatas
Judy is desperate to be a cop in Zootopia, but everyone keeps advising her to return home and become a carrot farmer! Think again if you thought pinatas were reserved for birthday parties. Fill long orange balloons with candy or other treats of your choice. These will resemble enormous carrots when inflated.
If you wish to enhance realism, attach lengths of green ribbon and sketch details on the side with a black marker pen. To pop the balloons, give each child a toothpick. Finally, the child with the most rewards is crowned the winner.
It’s ‘Pawsicle’ Time!
Bunny-cop Judy’s first case includes Nick Wilde melting down a huge Popsicle to make little pawsicles. Without any Popsicle molds, Nick’s clever accomplice Finnick utilizes his paw prints in the snow as ad hoc molds, resulting in paw shaped popsicles.
Declare it ‘Pawsicle time,’ and give each child a cup, a popsicle stick, and five jelly beans. When the game begins, the children hold the sticks horizontally in their mouths and balance jelly beans on the sticks. The first youngster to five wins.
To add to the enjoyment, you can purchase ‘paw’ shaped popsicle molds online and make real ‘pawsicles’ for the kids to enjoy after the game.
