We’ve had a long winter here, so spending time in the greenhouse was a welcome reminder of the coming spring weather. If your city has a greenhouse, it would be an excellent venue for any garden-themed event.
Keep in mind that the inside of a greenhouse may get quite hot, so it’s not the best location to serve an ice cream buffet or cupcakes with soft icing; nevertheless, it’s ideal for tea cookies and biscuits, which are wonderful for a Shabby Chic Garden Party!
Spring has arrived, and while spring parties may be a lot of fun, they can also be a little problematic. The weather can change in a second, causing your lovely garden party to be destroyed, so having a back-up plan is always a smart idea.
Today, I’m going to show you how a few simple tweaks may help you throw a fantastic dessert celebration, whether it’s indoors or out!
To give you some context, my daughter was hosting a sweet desserts party at our home for her dancing team. Because there was a 50% possibility of rain, I opted to dress for both options just in case.
I opted to set up the outdoor version in my backyard, using our greenery wall as a backdrop, and then adding a cute sign from Studio Noel that says ‘desserts.’ After all, this celebration was all about sweets!
I chose a pastel blue and pink color scheme, as well as shabby chic furniture and stands. Then I added some stunning blooms.
This time, my party table was a little white desk. It was excellent for this retro set up, despite its peeling paint. I also utilized a blue overturned drawer as a stand; I’m always looking for new and unusual ways to repurpose items.
My focus was on sweet treats, and this time we had some pretty amazing desserts! Sweet Carousel Cakes made these lovely sugar cookies in our party colors, with a flower theme throughout. Pink and blue macarons, cake pops, and pink jelly beans were featured on the table.
This wonderful naked cake was also prepared by Sweet Carousel Cakes, which I embellished with a gold metallic cake topper from Fun on Paper. I adore the topper!
The Inside Look
Let’s take a look inside. For my indoor party, I used a blue farmhouse cabinet as a table. Because this table is right here, it was simple to remove my daily decor and transform it into a dessert table.
My backdrop was created using a gold hoop with florals attached. This time, I used more florals because it’s always wonderful to bring a little bit of nature inside.
For my cake, cookies, and macarons, I utilized pink and white cake stands. Don’t you just adore how fancy macarons make you feel?
Because it was in my dining room, the inside table was kept small.
A tiny party area is appealing to me since it serves as a reminder that no gathering is too small. Every occasion, no matter how great or small, deserves to be commemorated with something lovely.
Other Shabby Chic Party Decoration Ideas
What comes to mind when you hear the term “shabby chic”? Worn wood, lace, butterflies, doilies, flowers, small weathered garden tools, and other items come to mind. All of these objects can be used in your party’s décor. If you’re throwing a party in a flower garden, you’ll already have a lot of the decorating done.
A banner is a great way to greet your party visitors. The banner components can be glued to little doilies and looped together with lace ribbon to create a banner.
Fresh flowers and a colorful butterfly on the rim can be placed in small weathered garden pails.
Silk flowers are also available in a variety of stunning designs to complement the party space. You might hang pink paper lanterns over the party area with silk flower balls on ribbons.
On the table or surrounding the party area, small flower or shrub topiary art can also be used. Asking a local florist if they know of anybody who could construct a topiary centerpiece with the birthday girl’s initials would be a sweet extra touch.
Chairs could be dressed up with satin chair slips and organza bows for a particular touch. These may be rented from most party rental providers.
Shabby Chic Party Activities and Games
Without beautiful little tea party hats, a garden party would be incomplete! Making their own party hat from regular sun hats, feather boas, and plastic flowers would be a fun activity for attendees.
I also provide a mirror for guests to admire their tea party hats. I make it a point to photograph all of the lovely creations! Guests could be invited to decorate and take home their own miniature flower pots. Guests might be given small clay pots, paint, and glitter glue to make their own mini masterpieces.
For my party favors, I also provide a few little flowers for the guests to put in their pots once the paint has dried.

I’ll need to decide where my event will be held before I can create my party invitation. One of the best things about a garden-themed party is the variety of locations available. I could go somewhere peaceful, such as in my own backyard, somewhere with more activity, such as a neighborhood park, or somewhere semi-private, such as a public greenhouse.
As you may be aware, May weather can be unpredictable, so if you’re hosting an outdoor event, you’ll want to have a back-up plan. You can add numerous cute details to your invitation with a shabby chic theme, such as doily designs, lace, and adhesive pearl embellishments.
How to Download
- Right-Click each one of your selections.
- Then Select “Save Image As”, locate the destination folder.
- Click “Save” or tap “Enter” to start the download process.
Once the download process is finished, check the file and you can begin the editing process by opening it (template file) with Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft word. Print the final draft of your invitation card on any printing paper you have chosen. For me, I’d rather use a quite pricey paper for better quality than using a cheaper one but sacrificing the quality.
