Is your child’s birthday approaching, and you’re unsure how to make it memorable and enjoyable? Since the shelter in place orders, this has been the most common question I’ve received. Birthdays for your children and the fear that they would not feel special or celebrated.
In this episode, I’ll share some of my favorite tips for making this year’s birthday one to remember! How to still have a party, how to include loved ones, and how to extend the celebration such that your child remembers this as their best birthday!
Baking
This pretty much describes my attitude on party baking. I have no idea why I torture myself like way. Come over before my next party and tell me over and over again, “Do Not Bake For a Party,” until I give in. I had big ideas for these sugar cookie flower pots I saw on Pinterest.
On the table, they would have been too cute, but it wasn’t meant to be. My buddy, a girl who understands how to throw a lovely, stress-free party can only do so much. I maintain it stress-free because of this. I am aware of my abilities and do not attempt to achieve everything.
This floral bark is both beautiful and delicious…yet it’s so simple to make that you could make it while sleeping. Melt chocolate, sprinkle whatever you want over it, let it set till it hardens, and then break it apart! It will be photographed on the dessert table soon!
These daisy pie bites turned out to be rather adorable… They didn’t make the final cut because I didn’t like how the yellow looked on the table. I know, it’s a ridiculous explanation, but it’s the truth! But they still had a good time during the celebration, so I’m delighted!
Time to Party!
It’s a flurry on party day. On party days, I get up early, prepare my coffee, take three sips before setting it down and forgetting about it, and enjoy the silence. Then it’s time to go, especially if the majority of the guests are outside.
Preparation and planning are two of my favorite aspects of the job. Everything about it is fantastic: coming up with new ideas, picturing special events, making shopping lists, and sticking to my checklist.
But it’s such a great feeling when the graphic begins to come to life. I wish I could be a fly on the wall as you put your party plans into action because I adore the sense of accomplishment it offers!
The Outdoor Area
We have a lot of summer birthdays around here, which means we use our garden as a venue! When it comes to decorating the sitting area, I wanted to have different little spots to focus on.
- The garlands that hang from the ceiling
- The flower-pot-planting station for the kids
- The tent for activities and crafts
- The dining table
But take a look at those floral garlands dangling from the ceiling. Isn’t it absolutely worth it?! It was such a memorable occasion. They were flawless, and that nook was exactly what I had in mind when I created them.
I knew I wanted the kids to take home their own flower, and planting it and decorating their own pot was the ideal activity for everyone.
It also served as a favor, which I always consider a win! This little gentleman has been languishing in my garage since I acquired a new baker’s rack for Mother’s Day.
I had no idea it was crying out to be turned into a garden potting shelf! For this one, I used a Target dollar spot wood sign and my Cricut to make the “Bloom where you are planted sign.” Also, take note of the wooden planter box! The plants were all on end-of-season sale at the hardware store where I bought them!
Party Food Ideas
I collaborated with a friend at Sprinkles & Confetti to purchase all of the party supplies and tabletop decorations for this party! I enjoyed having everything from my party plan delivered to my house in one box!
The white daisy plates blended together with the floral supplies were perfect. For this party, rose gold was the perfect splash of metallic and sparkle! What’s this? Anyone ordering this flower collection from the Flower Party Plan will receive a discount code from him! The code can be found on the tabletop page of your plan!
For this party, I decided to keep the meal basic. I despise having to cook on party day, so I try to limit myself to dishes that can be assembled. Salads, sandwiches made with a flower cookie cutter, and small cups filled with ingredients that resembled flowers, fruit, and so on Execution is simple, and delegating is even simpler.
My poor father is often assigned to food duty, but he is very helpful! I also enjoy considering foods for which children do not require a plate. They enjoy going on walks and wandering around parties…and a sandwich is perfect for their tiny hands!
Because I am a fan of the cocktail choice for adults. They’re taking their kids to a party, where they’ll undoubtedly leave buzzed and a little messier than when they arrived. Parents are entitled to some pampering as well.
For the kids, I had pink lemonade on the beverage server, and one of my favorite roses and champagne were on the table below. On a hot summer afternoon, this is a nice and cooling drink.
To add a splash of color to the beverage tub, I prepared flowery ice cubes with edible flowers, and I absolutely love how they turned out!! It’s super simple, but it’s a lot of fun! They gave the cocktails a playful twist.

When planning a party, the first question that springs to mind is who should attend. You make a guest list, decide on a theme, and finalize details like the location, date, and time. You may start planning your party invitations after you’ve nailed down all of these aspects.
