For our pals this summer, I threw a tropical-themed party. Summer is the best time to hold an outside party, and while we don’t live in Hawaii, I decided we could bring some tropical island sensations into our home!
We put together a unique, bright, and exciting summer celebration, and I’m sharing all of the details with you!
Begin by creating a mood board for your celebration. Pinterest is fantastic for this. Images and products from shops that inspire you can be pinned. It’s simple to keep things in order.
Set a date and send out invitations! In order to send out invitations, we use web portals. It’s convenient to be able to keep track of crucial event information and RSVPs.
Purchase online tropical decorations and plan a tropical dinner a few weeks ahead of time. Cocktails, canapés, and desserts with a tropical flair come to mind. You don’t even have to prepare a full meal!
Set things up the day before and make anything you can ahead of time.
Cocktails with a tropical twist
Keep the drinks basic and add a great mixer! They’re very refreshing with tasty tropical ingredients when you mix them with coconut rum and spiced rum.
Because the cocktails are so simple to create, I hired our two nieces (who are old enough to drink!) and gave them a quick lesson in mixing and pouring wine.
Making cocktails is the last thing you want to do during your event. Hire someone to do it for you so you can relax and your guests may always have a full glass.
Supplies for a Tropical Bar
The bar should be close to the party’s entrance. If it’s in the back, have someone serve a tray of welcome cocktails at the entryway. When I arrive at a party, I love being greeted with a cocktail! It’s a thoughtful gesture and a great way to greet your visitors.
Decorations for Tropical Parties
Williams Sonoma provided the majority of our party supplies and entertaining things. On Etsy, we also discovered smaller goods such as cocktail umbrellas. Details like paper bamboo straws, paper lanterns, small pink pineapples, and magnificent flowers in bamboo vases helped to bring our party to life.
Hang paper lanterns to create a magical atmosphere. When they’re fully lighted up at night, they look even better! The Paper Lantern Store has a variety of forms and patterns.
Have a basket of fresh leis waiting for your guests when they arrive to make your party feel extra special! You can even acquire imitation white ones if fresh ones aren’t available.
Tablescape with a Tropical Theme
Use palm plants and tropical ferns to create an instant tropical tablescape. Light tea lights in glass votives and place tropical flowers along the center of the table.
Flowers in the middle of the table offer a splash of color and are quite stunning! For our party, White Fig Designs designed one-of-a-kind tropical flowers.
Food for a Tropical Party
Place all of the food on a dining table so that visitors can take what they want at any time during the party. The meal featured tropical-inspired appetizers as well as Williams Sonoma and Lady & Larder’s most lovely cheese boards.
You may get cheese platters delivered a day or two before the party from Williams Sonoma. They arrive in a lovely box containing the finest ingredients and everything you’ll need to make a board, including the board itself!
When you’re throwing a big party, you can’t possibly accomplish everything. Hire a local company to hand out popsicles or ice cream scoops instead of cooking the dessert. You won’t have to worry about serving at the event this way.
At the party, we had Sweet Beams, a cute ice cream truck. It was a big hit, and it made my job as hostess a lot easier. I went with tropical ice cream flavors and tropical toppings.
Ice cream scoops were unlimited for both kids and adults! Each child had at least 5 scoops of ice cream!
One of the most significant aspects of a summer gathering is the presence of water. It has to be plentiful and freely available. For our guests, we provided antique coolers stocked with our favorite hint water! If you haven’t tried the hint, it’s a fruit-flavored drink with no sugar, calories, or other additives. The one we like best!
