Is your child a natural explorer? If that’s the case, get out the tent and the s’mores and have a great outdoor camping-themed birthday party for your youngster! A camping birthday party is the perfect theme now that the weather is getting nicer!
Celebrate your child’s birthday in your backyard with a fun camping theme – or pack the tents, food, and games for a night in the woods! In either case, you’ll have plenty of games, snacks, DIY decor, and more for a fun camping birthday!
Outdoor Camping Birthday Party Ideas
Summer is a great time to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Consider a backyard camp party to keep the youngsters entertained this summer. We have great suggestions for getting your family and friends to camp, whether you have little children who are too young for camp, older children who want to sleep at home, or your budget simply won’t allow it.
You can come up with a lot of cute and imaginative camping party ideas that will work both indoors and outside! Check out these camping birthday party ideas, which are unquestionably the most inventive!
Party Decorations
To create a camp-themed ambiance, incorporate creative touches, rustic things, and woodsy décor into your room. Tents offer a visual element to your party’s theme and quickly establish the tone.
Consider your current outdoor space or whether a trip to a nearby park might be more enjoyable. For this theme, I like the red and black buffalo check. Table runners and inexpensive napkins will help establish the tone.
Burlap, camouflage, browns, and greens are some natural-looking fabrics that work nicely. Now is the ideal time to use your picnic table if you have one. If it’s cracked or damaged, simply cover it with a paper tablecloth to give it a new look.
Flower Arrangements
Sunflowers are an easy-to-grow outdoor flower that goes nicely with a variety of hues. Simply pick up your blooms at your local grocery store or visit your neighborhood florist, then arrange them in little containers and scatter them around.
Send campers into the yard to pick their own sunflowers if you can’t find any. When they return, have clear vases filled with water waiting. Throughout the party, they will enjoy looking at their treasures.
Bug Spray Bar
Create a bug spray bar to keep your guests comfortable by providing multiple options for a bug-free atmosphere. To keep bugs at bay, keep a range of sprays, lotions, balms, and wipes on hand.
Place the alternatives on a wood tiered serving tray or wood blocks to display them in a unique way. By adding sunflowers on the bottom or top tiers, this can also serve as a centerpiece. I prefer to line a picnic table with two or three of these trays (these trays are also fantastic for serving food like s’mores, hot dogs, hamburgers, and chips).
Pinecone Garland
A pinecone garland would be a beautiful addition to any camping party, and it can be reused for the winter holidays! You’ll also need pinecones, hooks, and jute ribbon or twine. If you collect pine cones from your own yard, it will be much more wonderful!
Party Foods
Campfire cones with s’mores are a fantastic dessert option. Wrap the waffle cones in foil and place them on the grill for a few minutes with chocolate chips and small marshmallows. They’ll appeal to both children and adults. Add butterscotch chips, sliced strawberries, or other ingredients to make the dish your own.
These camping hot dogs are a must-have if you’re having a bonfire for your camping birthday party! Hot dogs and crescent rolls are all that’s required to make them. Serve ketchup or mustard on the side, as well as cheese dip or barbecue sauce in individual cups for dipping the dogs in. They’re filling and delicious, plus you can eat them without a plate!
Art and Craft Activities
An arts and crafts hour is included in a normal day at camp. This is simple to set up outside and provides campers with a range of projects to inspire their creativity.
DIY Binoculars
To make your DIY binoculars, save toilet paper and paper towel rolls (simply cut in half). My children visited a craft store and selected their favorite design paper. They glued the paper around the roll after cutting it out. After the paper is pasted on, the glue dries and the jute rope is wrapped around the bases and around the campers’ necks. Then send campers out into the woods to look for specific objects.
Paintings on the Rocks
This is a camp favorite! Send the kids outside to collect unusually shaped rocks in the yard or park. Allow campers to paint their favorite design, sport, animal, or other motif on the rock using a multi-surface paint. Campers can take their created rock home as a keepsake or leave it in a specific location and return in the future to look for it.
Glow in the Dark Mason Jars
Consider adding DIY lighting with glow in the dark lanterns if you prefer to set up tents or have your party in the evening. Paint the inside of a mason jar with glow-in-the-dark paint. Place them around your tent or along paths to make it easier for campers to see you. Watch your design come to life as evening approaches.
Fun Games
So, what exactly is a game-filled camping trip? With objects you already have around the house and in the garage, you can make fun games.
Bean Bag Ladder Toss
All ages will have a good time. Each rung of a stepladder should be labeled with a point value ranging from five to one. Allow campers to throw bean bags through the rungs to get as many points as possible.
Camping Bingo
Another enjoyable activity for children of all ages is camping bingo. Even toddlers and preschoolers can participate because it is presented in visual form. Small stones can be used as Bingo markers if the party is being held outside. It’ll help keep your gaming papers in place and add to the theme.
