Hi there, buddies! Summer has arrived, which means it’s time to start planning exciting events for the kids! With a You Are My Sunshine party, you can ring in the summer in style! These ideas are charming, stress-free, and simple to replicate, whether you’re arranging a birthday party or a fun play date.
Sunshine Party Ideas
All of these bright yellow party ideas were a lot of fun to put together. One of my favorite parts of organizing parties is seeing things come together even better than I had hoped!
Are you looking for a lovely and cheerful way to celebrate a child’s birthday? These sunshine-themed birthday party ideas are ideal for a one or two-year-special old’s day. These party ideas are both classic and fun, and we know you’ll enjoy them. They’re perfect for celebrating a birthday in the spring or summer.
Sunshine Party Decorations
Hang pink paper fans and the ‘You are my sunshine’ banner on the wall to begin your fun party decor. Attach the yellow themed fans to the backs of each of the children’s chairs for an adorable finishing touch. Make a lovely touch with a pink satin bow! Tip: Make sure the paper fans are properly secured with strong tape.
These charming DIY sunshine chargers will brighten up the kids’ plates. I guarantee that the kids will adore their table settings!
Guest tables were draped in light pink linens and topped with stunning balloon garlands with splashes of sunny florals, continuing the light pink and yellow motif throughout the party decor. Above the long tables on the terrace, enormous pink and yellow balloons with soft ribbon tassels drifted.
Summery floral arrangements adorned other smaller tables and high tops around the pool, adding gorgeous pops of color all around.
Poster Backdrops
I knew I wanted a very cute backdrop for her, but I thought I’d be out of my mind trying to find time with the move on the way.
I eventually turned to Instagram to seek assistance with printing a poster. I printed the poster and it turned out great! It made for a very easy backdrop, and I’m sure you’ll see it used for other parties in the future.
Balloon Garlands
My balloon garlands are another thing I’ve started outsourcing for my celebrations. The garlands at Party Hop Shop in St. Louis are incredible, and it relieves so much stress. I gave them a size and color scheme and they took care of the rest.
One thing I admire about the Party Hop Shop gals is their keen sense of fashion. It was completed by the addition of a few small balloon flowers. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of removing the stress of producing that garland and purchasing the correct garland.
Photo Banner
I did a fun photoshoot of my kid a week before the celebration. I printed out the photographs and made a banner out of them! Yellow balloons were strung on thread and affixed to my DIY banner stands. The images were then simply attached to the banner with little clothespins.
Sunshine Party Foods
I try to organize a modest party in the afternoon so that it isn’t over a meal. It was no different for my child’s party; I chose a 3:30 p.m. time slot and didn’t provide much in the way of food. Chips and salsa/dip, cookies, ice cream cake, fruit, and, of course, smash cake were on the menu.
For the fruit tray, I simply purchased fruits in the party’s color scheme and arranged them in a rainbow pattern. Because it was so simple and nice, it became one of my favorite elements of the party.
Cakes Ideas
It’s usual to let our children try cake for the first time on their birthdays, but I’m not one to let them get sick from it! I always bake a little, layered cake in small ramekins for them to consume.
I baked a lemon poppy seed cake with cream cheese frosting for this sunshine birthday cake. The great final touch was a lovely sunshine cake topper I designed with my Silhouette Cameo!
Make cupcakes or a small bundt cake with the remaining cake mix.
Sunshine Party Games and Activities
Every child, including toddlers, wants to have a good time on their birthday. You can create a variety of exciting and fascinating games to keep their inquiring minds occupied and their gorgeous giggles exploding. Because toddlers don’t always follow the rules you set or comprehend the concept of winning (you don’t want continual tears as their hearts break because they didn’t get a prize, either), it’s a good idea to pick games and rules that keep everyone having fun with small prizes for everyone. Remember that even if the gifts are simple, the children will be delighted.
Follow the Leader
Following the leader is something that all children enjoy doing. Get the kids to form a line behind an adult and go on a snake trail around the yard with music playing. It’s more enjoyable if there are obstacles to go over, under, or around, and if you can get them to perform silly things like arm waving and leg kicking. Children can also take turns leading.
Bubbling Time
At a toddler party, a bubble machine is a must-have. Children can take turns catching as many bubbles as they can or simply run around near a bubble machine. You might not even require another source of amusement!
