You don’t need to be a professional party planner to make your space pop. I’ve learned this through years of trial, error, and hot glue burns. The key? Stick to a color scheme, throw in a few wow-factors, and use our templates like your secret weapon.
DIY Shield Backdrops, Balloon Arches & Paper Stars
One of my favorite DIYs is the Captain America shield wall. All you need is some white, red, and blue cardstock. Cut out circles, layer them, and bam—you’ve got wall decor that screams “Birthday Hero Reporting for Duty!”

Balloon arches are the trendiest thing right now and surprisingly easy. You don’t need helium—just a little tape, fishing line, and patience (and maybe a glass of wine). YouTube tutorials are your friend here. Cut out paper stars and tape them along the walls, gift tables, or even on your cake stand. It’s the little details that bring the theme together.

Mixing Budget Finds with Printable Templates
This is where our free templates come in to save your day (and bank account). I created Captain America-themed:
- Birthday Invitations (editable on Canva)
- Thank You Cards
- Welcome Signs
- Party Backdrops
Each design includes comic-book style POWs! and ZOOMS! with Cap himself right there holding his shield. They print beautifully and look SO good paired with your DIYs. Honestly, they make the whole party look like it was done by a pro. Plus, it’s totally customizable. Just drag, drop, print, and go!
