When I see photos from a party I helped plan, I get a rush like no other. It’s a combination of immense pride, enthusiasm, and pure delight. I get a kick out of seeing a vision I had for someone and their family come to fruition. This party was especially memorable because it was for my 7-year-old daughter.
Martha is the sweetest person you’ll ever meet. Her smile is contagious, she has a golden heart, and she is always dressed to the nines, even down to her big, yet perfectly placed hair bow. Martha is the best, and I was honored to assist her in planning her wonderful 7th birthday celebration!
When I hear the word “tea party,” my mind immediately conjures up images of little girls dressed up in their mothers’ jewels, sitting at a lace-covered table sipping tea from various tea cups and sharing sugar cookies. When I opened my garden tea party plan, this was the feeling I hoped to have.
I knew I wanted Martha and her friends to hold a tea party at a nearby tea shop, but I didn’t have time to think about all the details. I was ecstatic to step in and assist Martha and her littlest friends in planning the perfect party.
Tea Party Decorations
The tea room featured the birthday girl sitting under a lovely trellis by the tea table, which was necessary for this spring party. This was the ideal location for a large number 7 covered in flowers to be hung.
I found a couple for sale, which I referenced in the party plan, as well as a terrific DIY tutorial. The party plan also includes fresh flowers in gorgeous glittering containers, as well as flower confetti.
We needed to add a little glitz and glam to the tea party because it was a sophisticated, special occasion. A station where guests could make their own bracelets was ideal. During the celebration, the little guests were able to pick and choose their beads and charms, as well as model their designs.
I also wanted something the girls could accomplish at their own leisure. They could eat, converse, and work on their bracelet all at the same time. The girls had a lot of fun making their own bracelets.
They continued to approach one other, proudly displaying their creations. It was very adorable. It was also one of my favorites because it was a lovely party treat for the ladies to take home.
Balloons are a must-have for any child’s celebration. Decide on a color scheme for the party first, and then choose the colors for the balloons from there. I don’t like regular balloons, so I get the glittery ones with various designs or the ones in the shapes of letters, numbers, or hearts.
I use balloons to cover the entrance, tables, and chairs. I often use a balloon bouquet to dress up the center table. Keep a balloon pump and extra balloons in your bag in case you need them.
We had a terrific time during the celebration. The girls had a great time, the tea room was gorgeous, and every element felt personal and unique. The plan made it less stressful for me, allowing me to enjoy my big girl’s 7th birthday! The party was lovely and full of fond memories.
Tea Party Games and Activities
I add a little additional excitement to a kids’ tea party with these fantastic tea party games!
Freeze Dance, I’m a Tiny Teapot
This game is similar to the classic party game Freeze Dance, but with a few differences. Play the song “I’m a Little Teapot” instead of random music. The teapot dance, which relates to the words, will be performed as the song plays.
Stop the music at different times during the song. Players must cease executing whatever teapot motion they’re doing when the music ends.
Anyone who does not freeze or break position will be eliminated from the game. The game and the music continue until there is just one person left.
Pass the Sweet Pot
Fill a teapot with candies to play this game. Players should form a circle on the floor. Put on some music and ask them to pass the pot around. The musician holding the instrument is out whenever the music stops, but she gets a sweet from the pot before exiting the circle. Continue to play until everyone has a sweet.
Musical Teacups
Musical chairs is a game that is similar to this one. Players will circle a table equipped with teacups instead of a row of chairs (one less than you have players). Players must reach for a teacup and take a sip of tea when the music stops.
The player who hasn’t received a teacup must leave the game. As players are removed, keep removing teacups (one for each player). The game continues until just one player has a cup in their hand.
Tossing the tea bag
Arrange a table with numerous cups. Set up a line in front of the players. Give each of them a handful of tea bags and ask them to toss them into the cup from the tea bag line.
Each tea ball that falls into the cup is worth one point. After all the tea bags have been flung, the player with the most points is the winner.
Sugar Cube On a Spoon
Play this game in the same way you would the traditional Egg on a Spoon Relay. Children must, however, carry a sugar cube on a spoon instead of an egg. When a sugar cube is dropped, the player who dropped it must return to the starting line and begin again.
