If you’re looking for a classic fairytale wedding, a garden is the ideal location. Because it is one of the most formal decor choices, there is a lot that goes into organizing a garden-themed wedding, but the end result is well worth it.
The goal of this wedding décor concept is to create a romantic, dreamy aesthetic that’s reminiscent of a fairytale—complete with plenty of fresh flowers, of course!
Historic estates, attractive bed & breakfasts, botanical gardens, conservatories, and even castles are common locations for garden-themed weddings and garden party weddings.

I need to prepare ahead of time, just like any other outdoor wedding, in case Mother Nature has other plans for the big day. Fortunately, structures such as sailcloth tents and clear-top tents perfectly fit a garden motif while also providing protection for myself and my guests.
Garden Wedding Colors
The color palette I chose for my wedding day is extremely important in setting the tone. Pastel colors like blush pink, hazy blue, lilac, sage green, and pale yellow help me create a lovely garden wedding vibe.
Because I want my palette to have a bit more substance and impact, I add a deeper version of one of my wedding colors.
Wedding Ideas with a Garden Theme
Now comes the exciting part. I’m eager to start planning my backyard wedding decorations, so here are a few of my favorites.
Save-the-date cards in watercolor
I send out lovely watercolor save-the-dates with calligraphy and botanical elements to offer my guests a taste of my garden wedding theme. Gold foil lends a sense of luxury and sparkles to the stationery.
On my special day, I dress up in a lovely lace bridal gown. This classic, feminine wedding gown fabric adds to the fairytale feel and looks stunning in photos.
If pure white lace is too formal, try ivory or tea-colored lace instead—or a lace gown with bright embellishments, like this Claire Pettibone two-piece with pink velvet and gold embroidery.
Beautiful bridal makeup
I recommend keeping your bridal makeup light and airy for a garden wedding. Use an airbrush foundation or CC cream instead of heavier foundations to let your natural skin shine through. Then finish with pink blush, neutral lipstick, iridescent eyeshadow or highlighter, and just enough mascara to make your lashes sparkle.
Bridesmaid dresses in pastel colors
Because I’ll have bridesmaids at my side on the big day, it’s critical that they look and feel their best as well. For garden-themed weddings, pastel bridesmaid gowns are a popular choice, especially when I combine two or three shades.
Have my bridesmaids wear similar gowns like these one-shoulder versions to keep the ensemble looking unified even when I’m mixing multiple colors.
Wedding Floral & Décor Inspiration for an Enchanted Garden Theme
Is there anything more enticing than a canopy of flowers?! The idea of using the ceiling to create a wall in your event venue is one of my favorite wedding themes.
This décor trend is ideal for generating a “enchanted garden” feel within the area if your theme is “enchanted garden.” There are numerous gorgeous flower options to explore, whether it’s a floral garland or a floral canopy above the dance floor!
The usage of wild and unstructured flower arrangements is another wedding trend that I adore and that is great for this whimsical wedding theme.
Using materials from an overgrown garden in my floral design adds to the enchantment and romanticism of my wedding. This goal can also be achieved by using a lot of greenery or pastel hues.
Incorporating a standout piece into my area is the final décor element I’ll discuss. Oversized gates are our go-to element for an enchanted garden wedding. This is a true “wow” statement that completely immerses me and my guests in the subject of my wedding.
Food and Beverage Ideas for an Enchanted Garden Themed Wedding
I adore food and drink, and I believe that what I serve at my wedding will have a significant impact on the overall experience, as well as function as a superb aspect for totally immersing your guests in the theme of my wedding.
Because my wedding theme is an enchanted garden, I adore the concept of using edible floral in the meal. Flowers, indeed! I’m sure your visitors will be taking pictures of their meals. However, I adore this since it’s yet more step toward creating an immersive experience, and it’s simply stunning!
Large Leaves And Flowers
Flowers are, of course, one of the most crucial parts of achieving that tropical vibe. Hawaii and the Maldives, for example, are awash in vibrant colors of all hues. A tropical wedding doesn’t require a color scheme because every color will be represented.
Protea, Hibiscus, Alpinia, Calatheas, Frangipani, Lilies, and Magnolias are all common island flowers. Before you fall in love with an arrangement like this, keep in mind that a bouquet of out-of-season flowers can be expensive.
I ask my florist how much I may expect to pay and if they have any less expensive alternatives that will fit in with my tropical theme.
Wedding Party Invitations
I frequently emphasize that the wedding invitations are the first impression guests receive of the wedding party, so I want to make a statement! Allow them to know what the theme is so they know what to wear and eat.
When planning a tropical wedding, vivid colors are a must. I’d like to convey the impression that you’re on a tropical getaway. Bamboo, bright flowers, palm fronds, and tropical fruits can all be included in your creations.
Throughout your stationery, your motif should be consistent. Save-the-dates, invites, programs, escort cards, and menu cards should all have the same look and feel. Consult a stationery expert to develop a unified appearance that screams adventure and excitement!
