Circus Themed Birthday Party Ideas
With these circus carnival birthday party ideas, you’ll be saying, “Wow, that was the best party ever!” This collection of circus birthday ideas includes anything from popcorn cupcakes to circus bingo, and is suitable for people of all ages, color schemes, and who simply want to have a good time!
Birthday Party Cakes
Make a cake with white frosting and bake it. Colored icing tubes can be used to make red, yellow, and blue balloons. Toy animals should be placed around the perimeter.
Cupcakes should be baked and topped with white icing. Use a red gum drop for the nose, M&Ms for the eyes, a bit of red licorice for the mouth, and cotton candy for the hair to make each one look like a clown’s face.
Make clown heads with vivid orange or raspberry sherbet scoops topped with sugar cone “hats” encircled by icing “ruffles.” Make noses out of spherical red chocolates, eyes out of M&Ms, and mouths out of red licorice threads. Make them ahead of time and store them in the freezer until you’re ready to serve them.
Party Games
Parties are the best when you’re a kid. What’s not to love about spending a big portion of the day laughing and running around celebrating life with your friends? Planning and organizing your child’s birthday party can feel like a huge duty as a parent.
Limbo
Two adults hold either end of a broomstick (or similar) loosely, at stomach height. The children take turns going under the stick without touching it, bending their knees and leaning back as necessary. The stick is lowered after all of the children have filed under it. Anyone who falls, touches the ground with their hands or touches the stick is out.
For a fun twist, Limbo is especially awesome on rollerskates. A great party game for kids at a roller disco!
Pinata
Hang the piñata so that it is hanging at about head height. Have party goers stand in a line a few metres away. Traditionally, players are blindfolded and gently spun around three times before trying to hit the piñata with a wooden stick but nowadays players simply take turns hitting the piñata (without a blindfold) until it breaks open.
Sack Race
For a sack race you will need a hessian/burlap sack or a large pillowcase for each player (you can also play in relay teams to minimise the number of sacks you need). To race, guests must stand with their feet inside the sack and on ‘go’ race to the finish line (or to their teammate if you’re playing relay style). The first player to cross the finish line or first team to have all members jump is the winner.
