A Bug’s Life Party Ideas
Get buggy with a backyard movie party featuring the Disney Pixar film, A Bug’s Life. Invite kids to come dressed as their favorite bugs. Deck out the backyard with some bug-a licious decorations and party plates. For a movie snack, make dirt cups. After the movie, guests can go on a bug hunt with their personalized bug catchers.
Party Foods Ideas
There were so many cute bug-themed treats to please the appetites of our group of explorers, like Creepy Corn Dog Centipedes from Beth of Hungry Happenings, Banana Caterpillars found at Little Page Turners, and Sandwich Snails from Itsy Belle Studio. A few other simple “critter” treats we included on the menu are Caterpillar Cheese Puffs, Butterfly Pasta Salad, Frog Eyes, and, of course, Bug Juice.
You can’t have a birthday party without candy or crafts. We found these cute butterfly snacks at Juggling with Kids. This was a super easy craft project for younger kids and perfect for our theme.
Supplies needed: clothespins, chenille stems, googly eyes, cello bags or Ziploc snack bags, glue found at your local JoAnn’s, and your choice of snacks.
We used M&Ms and Skittles to make the butterfly wings more colorful. You can’t forget the cute coordinating Bird’s Party printables that added that little extra pizzazz to our butterflies. It was intended to be a take-home treat, but the party guests couldn’t help but eat the yummy treats!
Party Decorations
With entertaining décor, dishes, and accessories, create a bugs’ paradise indoors or outside. Every visitor can design their own mosaic stepping stone. As party favors, you can use their invention or put wooden ladybugs in tiny jars.
You can swing by your neighborhood bakery to see if they can make bug cookies, or you can make delicious goodies like chocolate cupcakes with red icing. If you’re feeling very resourceful, you might set up a live ladybug house for visitors to see before releasing the little luck charms into the yard.
