Looking for a really fun birthday party theme for your child’s next big day? This super cute monsters inc party is sure to be a hit. The theming of this monster inc party is super fun and lends itself to so much creativity!
A Monsters University themed birthday party is one of our most popular party themes, and it’s also one of our favorites! It’s perfect for a first birthday party, and toddlers will like it as well. This Monsters, Inc. party has a cheerful color scheme that can be used for either a boy or a girl, and it’s ideal for twins! The patterns, visuals, textures, and graphics serve as a springboard for the rest of the party!
Party Decorations
Go with a lime green (Mike Wazowski’s color) and teal (Sulley’s color) color scheme. The table clothes, forks, spoons and cups were purchased from Oriental Trading, in those colors. Oriental Trading also carried Monster’s University dinner and dessert plates.
They were super cute and reasonably priced so I grabbed them. They also had a Monsters University backdrop and life sized cut out of Mike and Sulley.
We went to Party City hoping they carried Monsters Inc balloons and luckily, they did. We also found out that helium fill ups are free when you purchase balloons from their store, even if you buy them ahead of time and go back to have them filled on the day of your party (just bring your receipt with you). I had no idea! We will definitely be purchasing our balloons in store from now on.
Party Games Ideas
Our first game was an eyeball spoon race using ping pong balls with eyes drawn on. They were cheap, so everyone got one to take home too. The kids wanted the extra challenge of holding the spoons in their mouths. We were indoors, but the race was still a riot!
Then, keeping with the pajama theme, we had a sleeping bag race, done just like a sack race! That was even more fun–everyone wanted to race again! Note: we only had Barbie sleeping bags, and the boys wouldn’t go anywhere near them. They sat out the race!
Finally, we used a white sheet as a background, laid it on the floor, and had the kids lie down with their hair standing straight up and took fright pictures!
