The theme was mustaches and little men. It’s impossible to have too many mustaches. The majority of the decor was purchased from Oriental Trading. Their collection is always of high quality and includes a wide range of products.
Room Decorations
Drape your guest tables in soft blue or pink cloths that go near to the floor to add a sophisticated vibe with a simple touch to your party space. To add a nice and easy accent to the tables, wrap black ribbons around the backs of the chairs.
To add a neat little appearance to your centerpieces, put together bouquets of flowers and insert small mustaches on straws in them. To create a whole ambiance, hang groups of hanging lanterns. You can even use a mustache banner to border your buffet table to carry the theme throughout the space.
This would be a wonderful theme to print up menus for each guest, adding to the luxury, and having little labels for each item you prepare.
Dessert Table
This masculine sweets table was set off by the dramatic pattern of the black and white stripe. The petal cake, which had unexpected hues within, was prepared and decorated by myself! To finish off the cake design, I used the printable mustache and birthday banner.
Each treat was decorated with a mustache, making them both amusing and delicious! Guests could ‘wet their whistles’ with cola and a chocolate mustache that doubled as a photo prop.
Table Setting
The mustache tablecloth was placed on top of a red or blue base tablecloth. We had to tape the base of the mustache centerpieces to the table because the tiny breeze we experienced that day kept pushing them over.
We also had mustache confetti and delightful sticky hairy mustaches for guests to wear. It was hilarious to see all of the tiny kids and grownups wearing mustaches. Definitely a good purchase for quick enjoyment!
The color scheme for the day was inspired by the plates we ordered for Oriental Trading. The house was decorated in light blues, reds, blacks, greens, whites, and yellows! I usually enjoy Oriental Trading plates since they are so sturdy!
Food Ideas
Keep your food simple. You could want to do something more extravagant, such as a meal/potluck, if it’s with family and close friends. If it’s only your child’s buddies, keep it simple with cake/cupcakes and maybe a few kid-friendly snacks like goldfish and juice boxes.
How about the candies? You never know what parents will allow or what children will be able to handle, so we recommend skipping the candy. Cupcakes/cake and ice cream should be enough for the sweet toothed. They’ll go crazy over it!
Make all of your food mustache-friendly by placing small mustache stickers/labels on the jars and bowls you use to carry the concept throughout the space. Miniature versions of complex dishes, such as spaghetti with short noodles for less mess and little pizzas, are available.
For a delicious touch, a tower of oreo cookies can be served. Veggie kabobs are a tasty way to add a healthy touch to your meal. For your main course, make a round, tiered cake and design it to look like a little man with a mustache.
Party Favors
For favors, there were these cute mustache straws, the stick on mustaches stated above, a piata filled with candy, and then some basic treat bags filled with a few mustache related items. I loved how modest and easy it was, and everyone seemed to have a great time rocking their staches.
Or, send your tiny guests home with a delicious treat in the form of mini cupcakes with mustaches on them. Alternatively, for a more elegant look, assemble small jars of sixlets in the theme colors and tie them with ribbons.
