A beautiful garden wedding is one of my favorite things to attend. They are, in my opinion, the ideal of casual elegance, as well as a great way to save money – who needs decorations when you are surrounded by nature?
Whether you want to hold your wedding in your own or a friend’s garden or hire a garden-based venue, nature will provide the most beautiful background for such a wonderful occasion. The atmosphere and details of garden weddings are all wonderfully whimsical and beautiful, with lots of candles, specific seating spaces, and overall greenery and flowers.
To help you make the most of your garden theme, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite garden vintage wedding details, so you may have the wedding of your dreams, too.
Color Palette
The color scheme you choose for your wedding day will have a significant impact on the mood you create. Use pastel colors like blush pink, hazy blue, lilac, sage green, and soft yellow to create a lovely garden wedding look. If you want to give your palette a bit more weight and impact, use a darker version of one of your wedding colors.
Garden Vintage Wedding Decorations
DIY ideas that help your guests in navigating your wedding are the easiest and most practical. Whether it’s pointing guests to all of the different events, informing them of the sparkler sendoff time, or displaying an unique seating chart, knowledge is power during a wedding, and the more information the guests have about the wedding, the easier it will be for you and them.
The flexibility of table arrangements is one of the best part of designing your wedding reception in a garden area. You may need to arrange around a tree here and there, arrange the cake beneath a gazebo, or hang lights for dancing from the trees.
Food and Drink Corner
If you’re having an outdoor wedding, expect it to be hotter than usual, and your guests to be thirsty! Set up a few different drink stations… Mini bottles of water with custom water bottle labels, cooled down sodas, and spigot containers filled with lemonade, tea, or fruit infused water offer your guests a simple grab and go solution.
Birdcages
Fans of the retro theme will never go wrong with a birdcage, and they are a simple way to get in on the trend. Many venues will be able to obtain these from their vendors; how you style them is entirely up to you!
Birdcages make fantastic hanging ornaments, but they’re also perfect for wedding table decorations when paired with candles and a floral wreath.
Gazebo
If your garden wedding venue doesn’t have any gazebos, pergolas, or trellises, you may always get one from an event rental provider. To create an appealing backdrop, cover the structure in flowers, fabric, or string lights.
Wedding Aisle
Make a floral aisle marker that looks like wildflowers coming up from the ground to dress up an outside ceremony venue. Garden weddings are also a great place to try out non-traditional flower arrangement vessels like miniature baskets or old watering cans.
Wedding Dress and Makeup Ideas
Wear a lovely lace wedding gown to look the part on your big day. This classic, feminine wedding gown fabric adds to the fairytale feel and looks stunning in photos. If pure white lace is too formal, go for ivory or tea-colored lace instead, or a lace gown with colorful accents.
We suggest keeping your bridal makeup light and airy for a garden wedding. Use an airbrush foundation or CC cream instead of heavier foundations to show off your natural skin. Finish with blushed pink cheeks, neutral lipstick, iridescent eyeshadow or highlighter, and just enough mascara to make your lashes stand out.
It’s important that your bridesmaids look and feel their best on your wedding day. For garden-themed weddings, pastel bridesmaid gowns are a popular choice, particularly when two or three colors are combined. Have your bridesmaids wear similar gowns to keep the ensemble looking unified even if you’re mixing multiple colors.
How about the grooms and groomsmen? At a garden wedding, grooms and groomsmen should dress in semi-formal or black tie attire. If you want to be more fashion-forward, choose a navy blue tuxedo or one made of an unusual fabric, such as velvet.
Wedding Cakes
With a swag of pastel-hued flowers and greenery, the country-chic, half-naked wedding cake is gloriously flourishing. The delightful floral accent adds to the cake’s handcrafted appearance. Rustic does not imply that anything is poorly constructed. The trick to a truly stunning naked cake is that it is still flawless—straight sides and a faultless top. In a naked cake, there’s nowhere to hide.
Fresh flowers are one of our favorite ways to dress up a plain wedding cake, but painted flowers look just as good. Display your wedding cake and other goodies (such as macarons) atop clear acrylic pillars for an eye-catching dessert display.
Aesthetic Greenery Leaves Invitations
When your guests get such an extravagant wedding invitation suite, they will feel like royalty. Handwritten calligraphy, vellum envelopes, and wax seals are all Old World-inspired stationery details that are appropriate for a garden-themed wedding.
