Oh my goodness, the cake. If there’s one thing I’ve learned planning kid parties, it’s that the cake is basically the celebrity guest. Ours had to be epic. I wanted drama, layers, flair—but I also wanted something doable, and not $150 from a boutique bakery.
So here’s what I did: I bought a two-tiered chocolate cake from a local grocery store bakery (you know, those basic but dependable ones), then decorated it myself. We used black and yellow frosting to match the Gotham vibe, added a little Batman figurine on top, and surrounded it with mini cupcakes that had edible bat toppers. It looked straight out of a Pinterest board, and the best part? It tasted divine.

But what really had the kids giggling was when Brandon took the first bite and shouted, “This tastes like justice!” I’m not even making that up. He’s such a little goofball. Of course, you can’t have a party without something for the kids to do besides devour cake.
