When it came to decorations, I had one goal: make it feel magical without making it feel like a second mortgage. We decided to keep it simple but super colorful. Blue streamers everywhere, orange balloons floating around like happy little clouds, and paper cut-outs of Bluey characters taped to the walls. We even set up a mini “Heeler House” corner with a cardboard box and some markers, where kids could play pretend.

Oh, and the pièce de résistance? A giant Bluey poster we hung over the fireplace. My husband joked it looked like Bluey herself was judging his cake-decorating skills all afternoon. (Spoiler alert: she definitely would have given him a participation trophy.)

There’s something so sweet about watching your child walk into a room transformed just for them. When my little one saw the decorations, they gasped, spun around in a little circle, and shouted, “Mommy, it’s like Bluey’s real house!” Honestly, I almost cried. Again. And maybe I blamed it on the balloon helium fumes. As the big day crept closer, it was time to tackle something even more important — the food. Because if there’s one thing Bluey teaches us, it’s that snacks and celebrations go paw in paw.
