Hello there, gents and ladies! The weather is heating up outside, which only means one thing: it’s time for a pool party. While we adults enjoy a relaxing afternoon swim, it is the children that look forward to the pool parties.
Instead of going the traditional way with beach balls and pool noodles, try one of these DIY pool party ideas for your kids. Prepare for their celebration to transform from a casual gathering to a full-fledged extravaganza.
Summer Kids Pool Party Ideas
Summer! Yes! With these simple ideas, you can have a fun pool party in no time. Pool party invites, décor, and favors are all available. The kids enjoy splashing around in water, and this party will provide plenty of opportunities for them to do so.
Bring the entire family over for a day of fun in the sun. Get motivated to throw your son or daughter a fun pool birthday party. The difficult part is getting a swimming pool. All that’s left to do now is select your invites, decorations, refreshments, games, and party goodies.
Party Decorations
What exactly does it take to throw the best pool party ever? A pool and fantastic buddies, I’d say!
Also, especially for tiny children, the pool does not have to be large. An inflatable pool and other fun water activities, such as a slip n slide, can delight younger children.
By incorporating good decor ideas, you can add some enjoyment. And here are a few of my personal favorites for pool party décor.
Beach Ball Bowling
Although the pool party is all about the water, the kids will need to take a break at some point. Make a DIY bowling set out of pool noodles, a beach ball, and soda bottles that they’ll like as much as swimming.
Popsicle Balloons
Do you have a few decorations that you’d want to add? To make this charming DIY, grab a bag of twisted balloons (the kind clowns use) and some popsicle sticks. Add them to the snack table for a festive touch.
Snow Cone Pinata
Is there anything better than an icy treat? Of course, there’s a snow cone piata. Make a party essential out of cardboard and tissue paper that your kids will enjoy smashing.
Jumbo Jenga
While the majority of the children will spend the entire time in the water, some of them may be less enthusiastic about swimming. Make this big Jenga set so they can spend the afternoon on the deck. You can also use the set for the rest of your summer get-togethers.
Beach Ball Garland
A beach ball garland will give your patio the extra oomph it requires. Make a colorful banner with Smoothfoam (no, not styrofoam) balls and craft paint for a simple way to elevate your space.
Photo Backdrop
It’s a no-brainer for any party to put together a quick and easy photo booth. Make a pool scene with a blue bed sheet, pool noodles, and a few simple additions.
Tropical Leaf Garland
This adorable tropical leaf garland is ideal for celebrations with a tropical or pool theme. Each garland is 6.5 feet in length. The banner for “Tropic Like It’s Hot” is already threaded. 1x 2 tiered ‘Tropic Like It’s Hot’ card banner on neon pink string, pre-threaded.
Food & Refreshments Ideas
These recipes are likely to be a smash for a kid’s birthday party, with some easily adaptable for adults as well!
Mini hotdogs
Mini hotdogs are perfect party fare and you can have these made for the kids in no time. Here we give you tips on taking these to the park for a party!
Oreo cookie pops
These cute Oreo cookie pops are dipped in white or dark chocolate and decorated with pretty sprinkles. Serve them up at a party or wrap them up to give as gifts.
Chocolate dipped strawberries
Chocolate dipped strawberries are the quintessential romantic indulgence. Make it fun for the kids with some colourful sprinkles as well. If you can stop yourself eating them all, they’d make wonderful gifts packaged in small cellophane bags.
Fruit kebabs with yoghurt dip
Fruit kebabs just say summer to me and you could not have a more healthy snack for the whole family. Here we give them a delicious yoghurt dip for a creamy flavour contrast.
Party Favors
Without a fantastic party favor, no celebration is complete! It’s also my favorite part. I went to Amazon to locate these gorgeous pool-themed favorites!
Goldfish crackers, Swedish fish, little beach balls, animal goggles, tropical sunglasses, bubble wands, summer stickers, and fish squirts are all contained in a sand bucket. The best part about Oriental Trading is that you can order by the dozen, which is ideal.

Party Games & Activities
A pool party can be held on any given day if you have one. Pool parties that happen on the spur of the moment are a lot of fun. You’ve got a pool and a group of pals. Add a few cupboard goodies and call it a get-together!
However, this isn’t always the case. With these incredible pool party game ideas, you can throw the finest summer party ever!
Treasure Hunts
Toss some dive rings into the pool and send the kids on a quest to find them. Use a permanent pen to draw points on the rings to make it more interesting. Compete to see who can amass the most points.
Dive’n Spell! This game is fantastic. You scuba dive and search for letters to form words!
Ping Pong Points
For this one, you’ll need a lot of ping pong balls. For “points,” write numbers on the balls. Individual players or teams will attempt to obtain as many balls and points as feasible.
You might ask the swimmers to discover specific colors if you use colorful ping pong balls.
Floating Treasure
You do not need any diving experience to play this game. Toys that float in the pool should be scattered. Provide a list of items that each participant must locate. The prize goes to the person who collects his valuables the fastest.
This entertaining set of magnetic floating toys also includes fishing rods, allowing you to play a fishing game with them!
You’ll adore these glow-in-the-dark floating toys if your party is in the evening.
