Have you always wanted to have a wedding in the Renaissance style? The Renaissance Theme can be difficult, but it can also be a lot of fun. When you begin planning this type of wedding, you will notice that your creative side emerges.
There are numerous things you can do to make your wedding feel genuinely Renaissance.
Renaissance Wedding Ideas
Due to the great interest in the Renaissance era, you’ll discover a plethora of stores selling the items you’ll need for your project. Many websites offer costumes, jewelry, décor, music, and even cuisine suggestions. You’ll also find that this theme is less expensive than a traditional wedding. Especially in terms of dress.
Renaissance Wedding Venue
The most important thing is to find a location that fits your Renaissance theme.
For a Renaissance wedding, an outside location is excellent. If you must have an indoor setting, you may still make it feel real by adding décor.
It’s not as difficult as you may imagine to locate an outside venue. Perhaps a nearby park can provide the ideal setting for this type of wedding. Find out if marriages are permitted in your city. Old castles can be rented for weddings in certain cities. An ancient castle near where I live specializes in weddings.
Throughout the summer, many cities host Renaissance Festivals. We have one about an hour away that operates throughout the summer and hosts weddings. They provide your guests with a distinct area, as well as entertainment and a Renaissance feast. You might be able to find a Renaissance Festival that hosts weddings in your area if you search online. This is the ideal location for a Renaissance wedding.
Renaissance Wedding Decorations
When you incorporate your renaissance theme into your reception decor, it will look fantastic. This theme has so many interesting possibilities that your imagination will run wild.
For this sort of wedding, an outside setting would be ideal, but even if your reception is held indoors, you’ll have plenty of décor alternatives.
Ivy can be used to decorate the walls and even the table.
I discovered some battery-operated torches that would look great hung on the walls as well; perhaps the ivy could be hung in the same place as the torches.
Table Centerpieces
Many rod iron, renaissance-style candle holders are available for use as a centerpiece. Check out your local Hobby Lobby for craft supplies. I got the ones depicted above for half price at Hobby Lobby, and they were extremely affordable. There are also battery-operated candles available, which pose no risk of fire. I added the lighting grapes, but Ivy strung over the candle holders would also look nice.
A rod iron bird cage would also look wonderful as a dining table centerpiece.
Renaissance Wedding Attire
The Bride can wear any color she wants at a Renaissance wedding. White is not a customary color during the Renaissance, and it was not even a popular hue at the time. Darker colors, such as deep purple, dark green, and red, were more popular, as they were believed to bring fertility. You are welcome to wear White, but it is not required.
Naturally, you’ll want to be the Queen during a Renaissance wedding. The Queen, Maiden, and Tavern Wench are just a few of the Renaissance-themed costumes available.
Depending on the theme of the wedding, the groom should dress like a Medieval Knight or King. A blousy white or off-white shirt with a vest that matches or complements the bride’s gown color. According to your preferences, the pants can be fitting or poufy. The costume is finished off with a matching leather belt and knee-high leather boots. If you’re going to be King, you’ll probably want a nice cloak or cape, which you can readily obtain if you search for renaissance costumes on the internet.
You could have to put together your own suit for your groom. The costumes aren’t always well-made, but you can find good-quality bits and put it together yourself.
How about the bridesmaid?
If you want to go for a Knight and Maiden theme, your Bridesmaids could wear Maiden costumes.
You may even go with a theme involving Robin Hood and Maid Marion. Your bridesmaids might dress up as Tavern Wenches for the occasion.
The bridesmaids’ bouquets should be simple and understated. Depending on the bride’s chosen theme, of course. If the Bride has decided on a King and Queen theme, the bouquets may be more extravagant. If she’s going with one of the others, I’d go with modest, simple bouquets. Even a few daisies tied together with ribbon would suffice.
Renaissance Wedding Cakes
One of the most vital aspects of your wedding preparations is the wedding cake.
Almost any bakery will be able to accommodate your needs. Do your homework and, if you have photos, bring them with you to the bakery.
Discuss your desires with them if you are unsure. They are professionals who can most likely assist you in creating the perfect design for your Medieval wedding cake.
If you look online for renaissance wedding cake ideas, you’ll find a plethora of unique and lovely options.
