I’ll be honest — I considered renting out one of those kids’ party centers with a bouncy castle and glitter explosions on the walls. But when I saw the price tag (cue dramatic gasp), I decided to keep it simple and meaningful. We threw the party right in our backyard. Or should I say, Rainbow Ruby’s Adventure Garden?

We strung rainbow-colored fabric across the patio, used cloud-shaped pillows on the grass, and blew up so many balloons that I genuinely considered investing in a helium tank (next year, maybe). My husband said it looked like a unicorn exploded — and honestly, I took that as a compliment. Hosting it at home not only saved money, but it let us create memories in the same place my daughter learned to walk, had her first ice cream meltdown, and now — celebrated her third birthday surrounded by love and rainbow confetti.

And hey, don’t stress if you don’t have a backyard or a huge party space — seriously, you can still create something magical right in your own living room. I saw this one super creative mom on Instagram who completely transformed her small space into a dreamy sky-themed wonderland. She had pastel blue balloons floating all over the ceiling like fluffy clouds, and she hand-drew the most adorable rainbow on a long roll of butcher paper that stretched across the wall.
