If I had a dollar for every time someone said “You could sell this on Etsy,” I’d probably… well, finally hire someone else to blow up all those balloons. But really, I made most of the decor myself, and not because I’m a Pinterest goddess (I’m more of a hot glue and hope-for-the-best kind of girl).
We made:
- A “Rainbow Lane” archway out of pool noodles covered in tissue paper.
- Cloud-shaped signs that said things like “Welcome to Rainbow Village” and “Cake Zone Ahead!” (because priorities).
- Hot air balloon centerpieces with little baskets made from yogurt cups (washed, of course).
- A cardboard box turned into a mini stage for Madison to perform her “Ruby Song,” which may or may not have included her shouting “YAY CAKE” off-key.

It didn’t cost much. Most of it came from the dollar store, craft stash, and a lot of leftover party decorations from last year’s unicorn-themed bash. (Pro tip: never throw away pastel streamers. They are eternal.) But the best part? Madison helped me make everything. And she told me it was “the best day ever,” even before we cut the cake.
