Harry Potter Wand
For your magical celebration, you’ll need some fun games, and a DIY Harry Potter wand is a great place to start! This incredibly simple craft is a lot of fun and helps you get your creative juices flowing!
Who Am I?Â
Break the ice by playing “Who Am I?” As soon as the kids come, pin a sheet of paper to their backs with the name of a Harry Potter character on it (give the easier characters to the younger children).Â
The kids are then required to travel around the room, asking questions about their character that can only be replied with “yes” or “no.”Â
“Am I a wizard?” is one example. “Can you tell me whether I’m a muggle?” “Do I look like a child?” “Can you tell me if I’m excellent at magic?” and so on.
Treasure Hunt
Using the names of places found in the books as a starting point. Tell the kids that each of the areas where they’ll be searching has a name.
The garden, for example, could represent Hogwarts’ grounds, the sitting room, Diagon Alley, and the kitchen, Hagrid’s cottage.
Write your clues such that the kids must find a letter in each location, which can then be unscrambled to reveal a fitting Harry Potter word, such as Hogwarts or Gryffindor, at the conclusion. Your older siblings will enjoy assisting you with the treasure hunt planning!
Make Magic Potions
Allow your guests to mix two cups of white glue with 1 ½ glasses of water before they arrive at your party. Using food coloring, add a few drops. Mix two tablespoons of borax with two thirds cup warm water in a separate container.Â
Then, have the party guests mix the borax solution with the glue solution and see what happens. While they’re making their magic potions, keep an eye on them and cover up any party outfits or costumes if needed. Alternatively, make some slime or bubbles to play with.
Harry Potter Party Activities
Guests will be kept entertained with puzzles and word games while other events take place, such as waiting for their turn at particular games or anticipating the Great Hall feast.
Then it’s over to the wand shop, where they may get their own wands wrapped in parcel paper and tied with twine.
After that, head to the Owl Post to read the Daily Prophet for the latest wizard news. Set up a station for people to write birthday greetings to the honored guest.
It would also be the ideal time to put up a photo booth, complete with a cutout of “Where is this Wizard?” as a frame or prop.
Harry Potter Party Favors & Supplies
Turned upside down, wizard hats make excellent party bags for a Harry Potter celebration. You may get them at a party store or online for a reasonable price.Â

Find some chocolate frogs and see what you can!
When the kids arrive home, print off a few of our Harry Potter puzzles and Harry Potter coloring pages for them to do.
